SCHOOL PROFILE
La Huerta National High School is a government-funded educational institution that provides basic quality education to the youths of Barangay La Huerta and nearby towns and serves the developmental needs of junior high school learners – Grades 7 – 10 through holistic approach.
Founded in 1989, through the initiative of the former municipal Mayor Walfrido Ferrer, the school became the first public secondary school in the heart of Paranaque City, District 1, situated some steps away from two established private Catholic schools, St. Paul College and St. Andrew’s School. Despite being a public institution, it did not bring a connotation of discounting quality teaching but rather, created word-of-mouth acclaims from the parent-stakeholders and alumni. From then on, it has been a strong prospect for adolescents (and their parents) who seek free quality education.
At present, the school, with a population of a little less than 1,600, temporarily occupies a four-story, 15 -classroom building beside the Parañaque National High School – Don Galo while it awaits the completion of the new and bigger school building in La Huerta to accommodate more enrollees. Since the need to adopt technology in teaching-learning implementations becomes imperative, the school tries to be on par with the private schools in terms of facilities. Each classroom has a television set whose size ranges from 32 inches to 49 inches and a speaker set to complete the lesson-viewing/listening satisfaction. Likewise, each has whiteboards that are used for the traditional effective board work in exchange for the green wooden boards. The Local Government Unit headed by Mayor Edwin L. Olivarez provided the installation of free internet connection throughout the school premises which can also be accessed by the households in the immediate vicinity.
For more than three decades, the school has produced innumerable achievements and accomplishments marked by the the successful and notable alumni who bring pride and joy to the faculty, staff and administrators. It has always been sincere and faithful in upholding the DepEd vision and core values. It has been and will always be true to its pledge in carrying out the DepEd mission to train, hone and develop life-long learners who do not just acquire literacy but possess qualities of responsible citizens of the country.
